Scott McInroy, Director of Instruction

Scott has been a member of the PGA of Canada for eight years. He developed a love for the golf business while working at the Bay of Quinte Country Club in Belleville, Ontario. In 2006, he became a member of the professional staff at Timber Ridge Golf Course in Brighton after finishing second place in his Playing Ability Test; shooting an even par score of 144 for the tournament. In June 2008, Scott graduated from the Professional Golf Management program at Humber College with honours in the program, finishing in the top 2% of his graduating class. Scott worked at Timber Ridge for three years before moving into an exciting opportunity as the Associate Professional at Wildfire Golf Club in Lakefield, Ontario, where he spent four years. Scott is very excited to announce that he has accepted the Director of Instruction position at Black Bear Ridge Golf Course in Belleville, Ontario beginning in the spring of 2013. Black Bear Ridge is home to a state of the art academy with a 9 hole short course, short game area, full size range, and two buildings equipped with state of the art equipment dedicated to making you a better golfer.

To date, Scott has a strong base of students of varying abilities from low to high handicappers. The move to Black Bear Ridge will allow Scott to teach the game at one of the top facilities in Canada and will also allow him to provide year-round instruction as he partners with the Loyalist Golf Dome in Belleville during the off-season months. "I made the move to Black Bear Ridge because I knew the academy would offer my current and future students a facility where every part of their game has the potential to improve. An added bonus is being able to take the work we've done over the summer and continue to improve in these aspects throughout the winter months so facilitating changes will be made much easier for both teacher and student."

To add to his strong credentials, Scott has attended several teaching summits by PGA Tour instructors Hank Haney and Sean Foley; Fitness instructor Dr. Craig Davies and putting guru Marius Filmalter.

Student Testimonials

"I have attended several golf school in the United States, but my lessons with Scott have been the most productive. Although Scott has a thorough understanding of the complexities of the golf swing, his greatest asset is his ability to assess the specific swing faults of his student, and then communicate the corrections required in simplified, easy to understand instructions. His "keep it simple" approach allows the student to focus on one or two swing thoughts, facilitating a "swing" rather than a series of mechanical movements. As a visual learner, I have found Scott's V1 Professional video analysis to be excellent - and with the added benefit that once it is emailed it is available for continued viewing. I would highly recommend Scott for golfers of all levels."
Bill Biggar, 8 Handicap

"Scott has helped my game immensely- each season I work with him my handicap continues to improve. Using a progressive approach along with video analysis he focuses on a few key issues at a time and once corrected builds on that base to achieve a solid technical game. In addition his playing lessons on game strategy and course management add smart play to that technical base. I would highly recommend Scott to anyone who wants to take their game to the next level."
Jennifer Courteau, 25 Handicap

"Scott has helped me with all aspects of my golf game for the past two years. Scott shows a lot of patience and encouragement during his lessons and he always starts by asking how your last few rounds have been and what you would like to concentrate on this time. It is very easy for a coach to say you should be doing this or that but what I like best with Scott is that he will show me my swing and explain why I have a slice or hook. It is very visual when I can see my swing and actually see why the ball is fading. From there he will show me what I should be doing. Of course all lessons are backed up with video which are emailed after the lesson. I'm not sure if I will ever be happy with my golf game but Scott continues to give me the confidence and tools to play the game. Give Scott a try; you will be very impressed."
Jim Middleton, 28 Handicap
